Seer

A Seer has surfaced–but she’s blind!

Chloe Santos is an immortal with a whole world of problems. The victim of an attempted murder that left her horribly disfigured and struck with powers everyone thought gone, she’s thrust into a kidnapping investigation with links to her own past that puts both herself, and everyone she cares about, in danger.

Especially her warrior Soul Mate.

Phobos has a millennia of blood on his hands. As the son of Ares, he’s done horrific things in the name of keeping their existence secret. Only all that changes when he meets his Soul Mate.

Allegiances change, trust is thin and Chloe has to decide if she should risk everything to make the world a better place. Even her own chance at happiness.

Excerpt:

I’m watching myself in a forest. I don’t know where, when or even how I’ve arrived, but I feel them stalking me. Bailey’s not with me, so the me in my vision moves hesitantly from tree to tree, sending out feelers to find where the hostile minds are. Unfortunately, they’re close . . . close enough to hear their voices rather than just in their minds. I attempt to bury myself between bushes and leaf litter, the rich earthy scent a false comfort.

“She is close, Brother. I can smell her fear.” It’s not a voice I recognise.

“Quiet. I can’t hear anything with you chattering in my ears. You know she will try to end us if we fail.” They are both silent for a little longer, but the first man can’t maintain it.

“Do you think she was telling the truth, that we would be part of a new Council?”

“I think that she would tell us anything to get us to do this job. Fortunately, even without that reward, there is much in it for us.” He lets out a short laugh that sends chills down my spine. “Can you imagine it? The opportunity to break a Seer after all this time?”

It’s then I realise what they are.

Titans.

I come to with a gasp, fingers digging at the tiled floor the world black around me. Bailey’s silken body’s pressed protectively against me, offering me comfort from my visions. I’ve lost my connection with him so I send out a thin tendril and curl it into the comforting familiarity of his mind.

My heart’s racing a hundred miles a minute, jumping like a rabbit trying to escape my chest. The vision is still clear and sharp despite the lapse of time. I know it won’t fade. Most do, though this one’s too terrifying to disappear. Prophecy. My sweat trickles down the back of my neck, prompting Bailey to attempt to clean me up. Now I’m drowning in dog slobber. The tension’s broken.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Boss helps me up, his concern for me still lingering in his voice and mind.

I find that I’m constantly attached now to both brothers, a tendril of my mind snuggling quietly inside theirs. It’s as natural as breathing, I’m expending no effort to maintain it. Maybe I’m gaining strength—or they’re losing the will to keep me out. I’ll talk to them about it later . . . if I get the chance.

“I don’t know why this happened now. Usually, there’s a trigger for a Prophecy and they’re never this clear, but this one . . . It’s not your average premonition.” My voice drops as I explain the general gist of the vision. “If what I saw is true, then something is truly wrong in our world, and the Council needs to know about it. Though which Gods can we trust? Who would unleash the Titans?” I try to stand only to find myself gently swept to my feet, a hand lingering a moment too long on the small of my back.

Goosebumps pebble my skin, hardening my nipples. Only one of the brothers provokes these reactions and it’s embarrassing. Not to mention that I still have a piece of my mind floating around in his, so I can feel both his arousal and his pity.

There it is again. Pity.

No woman wants to be attracted to a man who finds her pitiful.
